Can Navigator Pear Roots Damage Sidewalks, Pipes, or Foundations? (28 อ่าน)

6 ส.ค. 2569 13:00

A Navigator Pear planted too close to hardscaping may raise concerns about root pressure, drainage lines, and nearby structures. I want to understand the real risk before planting.

Sidewalks: Check planting distance.

Pipes: Inspect existing leaks.

Foundations: Consider soil and root spread.

Navigator Pear roots can lift nearby sidewalks when the tree is planted in limited soil space, but they rarely break sound pipes or foundations directly. Roots usually follow moisture, loose soil, and existing openings. They may enter leaking pipes or worsen cracks that are already present.

To reduce problems, plant the tree far enough from buildings, paved areas, and underground utilities to accommodate its mature size. Ensure the soil drains well and inspect old sewer lines before planting.

If pavement begins lifting or roots appear near a structure, consult a certified arborist. Avoid cutting major roots without expert advice, as this can weaken or destabilize the tree.
