What actually moves a Diablo 4 character forward in Season Fourteen: another focused Unique, or a pile of Pandemonium Fragments? The answer changes the moment your build stops missing its core pieces. Before committing your key stash, compare your build's remaining gaps with Diablo 4 runes and other gear needs, because the Corrupted Reaper is a volume farm, not a magic answer for every loadout.



Pick the Boss That Matches Your Current Problem



Initiate and Greater Lair Bosses still earn their spot because their pools are narrower. Varshan can be the right call for Shard of Verathiel, Grigoire makes sense for Paingorger's Gauntlets, and the Greater bosses remain useful when a class-specific drop is holding your DPS back. Belial offers pool selection after the fight, but his cost is two Superior Lair Keys. The Corrupted Reaper costs one Superior Lair Key and pays out through broad Mythic chances, seasonal reputation, and Fragment progress.

The Reaper Is a Spending Phase



A common mistake is opening Reaper Hoards the second a Superior Lair Key drops. That feels productive, but batching keys usually feels better in practice. Run Ruptures, clear Deathtoll Chambers, stockpile keys, then spend them in a dedicated Reaper session. You get less travel friction, fewer inventory interruptions, and a clearer read on what the session actually produced. From what I've seen, this also makes bad RNG sting less because you can still see Fragment progress building toward a same-slot Mythic craft.



Torment Level Is a Time-Test, Not a Pride Test



The Reaper can award up to two Pandemonium Fragments depending on Torment level, but that headline only matters if your character clears efficiently. A slow kill with repeated deaths, defensive resets, and a dragged-out final phase can erase the value of higher rewards. Track Hoards completed per hour for a few runs. The best difficulty is where your build kills consistently, survives normal mechanics, and keeps moving without turning every boss spawn into a clutch fight.



What I Wish I Knew Before Spending Fragments



The Horadric Cube recipe needs four Pandemonium Fragments and an eligible Unique, then returns a Mythic item in that same equipment slot. It does not promise that the input Unique returns as its Mythic version. So don't throw in the first duplicate you see. Check which Mythic outcomes share that slot and ask whether several of them help your build. Players short on keys may also choose to buy Diablo 4 materials while planning upgrades, but the actual crafting decision should still be driven by slot value rather than impatience.

Keep the route simple and let each Diablo 4 activity feed the next one.



Claim seasonal reputation rewards, especially repeatable Glints of Hope rewards that provide a Fragment.

Use ordinary Lair Keys on bosses tied to a missing build-defining Unique.

Run Deathtoll Chambers for Superior Lair Keys once focused drops are handled.

Spend Superior Lair Keys on the Corrupted Reaper for broad Mythic progress.

Choose Belial only when a selected boss pool is worth giving up two Reaper openings.



That's the real Season Fourteen loop: solve precision problems first, then shift into high-volume Mythic farming. And once your core setup is online, the Reaper's combined rewards make far more sense than repeatedly chasing loot your build has already outgrown.
